Forum Software Upgrade Coming Soon

The software we currently use for the boards has been moved over to a new series of code which is. for all intents and purposes, better. I've been watching the development of the software and I think we're closing in on the time to move NDE over to the newest version. What does this mean to you?

1. The overall look of the forums (theme) will change since our default theme is no longer in development. This is mostly cosmetic and while undoubtedly painful for some who've grown attached to the way NDE looks, it cannot be helped.
2. NDE will be down, possibly for a weekend, while the old data is backed up and moved and the new software installed and tested. I will give at least a 7-day notice of when this will occur.
3. All of the posts and PM's will carry over. Your usernames and passwords will remain the same.


That's about all I can think of right now, but I'll provide more information as it comes to me. I'm looking at sometime in June for this to happen, but I may push it to July if my calendar fills up.

So long as the layout is similar, I wont mind. Thanks to a Firefox addon, every site I go to has white/grey/green text with a black background. You know, to match my soul....

 It looks pretty cool but it is a little dark. I think the dark letters on light background are easier for me to read but that's my fault for outliving the life expectancy of having good eyes :grn:
 Whatever is easier for you--my eyes will adapt--the print is big so that's good

Side note
A little while ago my computer detected a virus. I shut everything down and did a scan thing. Brought everything back up and went to NDE and this new theme was here --scared the shit out of me for a second there--I though I blew this machine up again  :2fun:

The color scheme thing is due to the theme, which I am working on. Bear with me, I just had a vehicle stolen, a ton of work dumped on me at the last minute and a hectic life in general.

Okay, now that my whine session is over (:)), I'm gonna change you both over to a lighter-colored theme.

If you want to change it in the future (or look to see what else is in there), this link should work for you:

The very top section should read:
Current Theme:    Prince of Darkness (change)

Click change and go from there. You can preview any theme that is listed by clicking on the icon for it or clicking the preview link on the left-hand side. :)

Murph, if you have to work to read it or adjust to it, then the forum is useless to you. Really, whatever people want, if it's reasonable, I will do. I'll work on getting some more light-colored themes going when I have the chance to check more of them out.

Let me know if you have any other issues or concerns and I'll solve 'em as best I can. I know the control panel/profile is going to be a nightmare for some folks who used the old one a lot and were used to it. I'm not sure I like it myself.
